About

My name is Patricia Gibbings née Abel.  I live in Parksville, British Columbia, Canada.

I am the great, great, great granddaughter of Bernhard Philipp Berckemeyer (BP I, 1764 – 1816) who was the first of five Berckemeyers to own Gross Thurow (Groß Thurow, Thurow).

I have considerable information about the Lauenburg-Mecklenburg branch of Berckemeyers in the form of photographs, albums, journals and memoirs.  It is because I am concerned about what will happen to this material when I am gone, that I have set up this website as a means of sharing it with others.

If you are unfamiliar with this branch of Berckemeyers, I suggest starting with the “Seven Generations” album.  It provides an overview with short descriptions of the various members of this family and how they are connected.

Note: There were two Bernhard Philipp Berckemeyers.  For clarification they will sometimes be referred to as BP I (1764 – 1816) and BP II (1879 – 1962)

Please pass the link to this website on to anyone whom you think may be interested in it.
